uDig Tutorial
This is a walkthrough of the installation and use of the uDig application, it covers the general introduction to the GIS and the use of shapefile.
uDig is collaborative effort brought together by a diverse project management committee from organizations across the world:

uDig was originated at Refractions Research in Canada with funding from GeoConnections Canada.
uDig is intended to be used in conjunction with existing investment in spatial information. Data are the most important part of the work, uDig supports a wide range of formats, it is compatible with a range of spatial databases and can access of information services such as WMS and WFS.
Other features are support for printing and excellent desktop integration.
The use of an open source license (EPL and BSD) allows the uDig project to be used by any organization with no per seat license.
