Field techniques in botanical science

The course covers parts on planning and preparations for field trips. Materials and equipment necessary for field studies and field methods useful in surveying plants (quadrant methods, collection techniques, recording of data) etc are discussed. Methods of specimen preservation (pressing for plants and preservatives) are studied. A field trip to a nearby natural habitat is part of the course where students will collect plant specimens and practice the techniques studied theoretically
