Course description

Host causal organisms and environmental interaction; ecobiological concepts of disease occurrence in dairy animals; principles of diagnosis, control and prevention of diseases of dairy cows; immune system in disease occurrence; major viral, bacterial, protozoal, rickettsial, and fungal diseases affecting dairy cows with special emphasis to infectious diseases of reproductive system; diseases of dairy intensifications; causes, associated risks, treatment and prevention of non-infectious disease of dairy cows (dystocia, abortion, extra-uterine pregnancies, prolapses, paraplegia, maceration, milk fever, ketosis).

Prevention and control of mastitis in dairy herds; Zoonotic diseases of public health importance; Economical important infectious diseases of dairy animals; Aetiology, epidemiology, symptoms, diagnosis, prevention and control of external and internal parasite of dairy animals with a special focus on ticks, mites, insects, helminthes and protozoa of tropical importance.
