There has always been a demand for increased capacity of transmission of information. To this end scientists and engineers continuously pursue technological routers for achieving this goal. The availability of laser which is a coherent source of light waves presented communication engineers with a suitable carrier wave capable of carrying enormously large amount of information compared with radio waves and micro waves. At the heart of light wave communication system is the optical fiber, which act us the transmission channel carrying the light beam loaded with information. The goal of this course thus lays in the mastery of fundamentals of Optics and optical communication.
