This course is a continuation of Advanced Microeconomics I in Economic Policy Analysis program. The course basically deals with the analysis of resource allocation under market failure. Topics to be studied include: public goods; externalities; economics of transaction costs; and contract theory and information economics.


Course Description

This course is a continuation of Advanced Macroeconomics I in Economic Policy Analysis program. The course basically deals with the analysis of the long-run macro-economic phenomena. It also introduces the real business cycle approach to the problem of short-run economic fluctuations, and familiarizes students with the micro-foundations of modern macroeconomics at advanced level. The course’s general perspective is that of developing countries. Particularly, Ethiopian macroeconomic modeling in historical perspective will be linked to the course. Topics to be studied include: theories and models of economic growth; cross-country income differences; inflation, unemployment and expectations; real-business cycle theory; and the micro-foundations of modern macroeconomics.
