Statistical Computing I

Course description

Introduction to statistical computing; Basics of statistical computations in SPSS Software; Statistical data analysis and interpretation: descriptive and inferential analysis and linear regression; Writing and reporting results of analyses. It also introduces MINITAB.

Objectives

·         To expose students to windows-based statistical software for computations

·         To equip students with skills of data entry, analysis and interpretation of results

·         To enhance the students’ ability of writing and reporting statistical results.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students are expected to:

·         Demonstrate the use of SPSS software for statistical analysis;

·         Enter and analyze data;

·          Interpret the results of data analysis;

·         Produce and report statistical results in writing and orally.

·        Demonstrate the basics of SPSS

·        Use MINITAB to carry out simple graphs and data analysis.
