• This course, Environmental Impact Assessment (ENSC 516), is a three credit  Post graduate Course for Second semester Environmental Sciences students. It  introduces how EIA is becoming one of the most important contemporary instruments of environmental management around the world via identifying the impacts of development projects as well as strategic plans and policies. It also illustrates the key roles that EIA could play in many regulatory systems for environmental management. This course reviews the development of different approaches to EIA, basic analytical principles, administrative systems for EIA, assessments at the project and strategic levels, and case study applications in Ethiopia particularly the implementation aspects of EIA.
