The course first introduces the meaning, nature, bases and branches of moral philosophy and then discusses the essence of its two subject matters – ethics and morality. Next, it deals in some detail with the various theories of moral philosophy –virtue ethics, teleology, deontology, Meta ethics, Buddha ethics, Confucius ethics and African traditional ethics. With this broad frame work, the course tries to pick up a number of moral values and principles and let the learners entertain critical discussions/debates and develop their own moral judgments on them.
