The course deals with the historical and philosophical origins of constitutions, its development, functions and purposes, main guiding principles as well as constitutionalism. Constitution and how constitution is made and implemented is the basic crux of the study of rights and duties of citizens. As a result, students of Civics and ethical studies are major targets of developing constitutionalism – through them the whole population. The course deals with a good knowledge the historical origin and development of constitutions in Ethiopia, with particular focus on the FDRE constitution. As a result, they will understand about their country more. And also, it dwells on how constitutionalism can be developed and maintained. Course objectives Students will have the basic of constitution and develop a good sense of constitutionalism so that they will contribute to the constitutional order to take root.
