Aims and Objectives
To develop a basic understanding of the engineering behavior of concrete and embankment dams and their appurtenance structures through appreciation of the geotechnical, geological, structural, hydraulic/ hydrological aspects relevant to dam planning, design and construction. The student will understand the design principles of hydraulic structures related to dams and be able to develop competence to provide the dam safety inspections and suggest the remedial measures for assuring the dam safety.
